Just getting the first layers down. I'm not too picky about exact colors at this point. I try to get the values close, but it doesn't have to be exact. This is the loose phase. Sometime it works and it just needs a little more detail here and there. Other times, it's just a ground work and I'll cover almost everything again. My tools are painting knives, two of those are really old and the print is worn off. I had to take them with me to Blick to try to match them for new ones. The brushes are mostly Utrecht Chungking 209-F.
I liked the looseness of the first layer, particularly in the chest and torso. I didn't want to mess with that too much, but added a few darks for definition. I did the most to the background. It needed to harmonize with the orange in the fox, so I added orange and deeper yellows to the blue greens.
